We were chosen to install a boiler room in Richmond Hill, to provide heat for the radiant basement loops and the 5,000 sq’ snow melt drive and walkways. The tubing was laid by the concrete contractors, all we had to do was to design and implement a system that would ensure reliable melting of the snow no matter what Mother Nature threw at it. IBC Technologie’s brand new EX line of boilers were a natural fit for the job, their 850,000 Btu/h which is the largest one they make is the Beauty and the Beast we needed in one. Since the basement floor heating demand is lower than the boiler could turn down to, we had to include a Thermo2000 Buffmax 80 hydronic buffer tank to prevent short cycling. A custom made header distributes the 50% Polypropylene Glycol to the snow melt manifolds and the low temperature floor heating zone uses injection mixing. Most all connections are Viega Propress with some solder and a couple of SharkBite adapters thrown in to spice things up.
